Disturbingly beautiful clay/porcelain sculptures by Israeli artist Ronit Baranga
The use of fingers and mouths in my work is full of intent and meaning. The fingers and the mouth are very sensual organs in the human body and are therefore very powerful as separated items from it. The “seamless” combination of these organs in plates or cups, appearing as one, creates, in my opinion, new items that “feel” their environment and respond to it - Ronit (interview with Empty Kingdom)

NYC Paper Subway Station by Terada Mokei
Imagine walking through a forest and seeing just a glimpse of these awesome invisible figures! They’re the creative work of artist Rob Mulholland, who makes these sculptures out of mirrored Perspex (or acrylic glass). It has been called the Predator effect after the 1987 film where an alien life form seamlessly blends into its background. Mulholland has previously installed these chameleon-like figures in the woods around Alloa, Loch Ard and the David Marshall Lodge in Scotland.
Mulholland told BBC Scotland that the key to the effect was creating a distorted reflection. “It alters reality, one moment you see them and the next moment they blend in. There’s an ambiguity to it - it doesn’t answer all the questions.”

By Motoi Yamamoto, constructed entirely from salt, formed into very delicate blocks that crumble when an earthquake is simulated along with this piece. It has a really strong symbolism with human ingenuity and what can be created, but just as easily destroyed.
DIY CAMEO EARRINGS…again
Last summer I posted these DIY cameo earrings, and then got excited to do the project again for some other ladies in my life. I purchased all the supplies, then stuffed them all in the back of my craft cupboard and forgot about them! I just pulled them out the other day after a thorough cleaning of my cupboard, and started thinking about what to do with them. I think they’ll be a gift, so I won’t go into much more detail than that!
